Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, have recovered a suspected improvised explosive device along a road in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out on August 7, 2026, following a report of a suspected IED planted along a road in the Jabanda area of the local government.
According to military sources, troops of CSI Battalion VI/CT 2, Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, deployed from Forward Operating Base Kaura Namoda, responded to the report.
The troops moved to Jabanda Village alongside personnel from the Police EOD team and the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force.
The security operatives located and safely cleared the suspected explosive device from the affected section of the road.
Following the operation, the route was declared safe and reopened to motorists.
The development restored normal movement along the road, while security agencies continued efforts to prevent threats from improvised explosive devices in the area.
