The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has dissolved all party caucuses across the state’s 16 local government areas with immediate effect.
The decision was reached by the State Executive Committee and other key stakeholders following a closed-door meeting with the party leader and former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, during his recent homecoming and stakeholder engagements in the state.
In a statement on Sunday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, said the dissolution marked the beginning of a comprehensive reorganisation of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adewara said the party had begun preparations to restructure its political machinery, broaden participation and bring in new members as it seeks to strengthen its chances in the 2027 elections.
He said the move was within the powers of the State Executive Committee and was aimed at repositioning the party in the interest of its members and its electoral prospects.
The party thanked members of the dissolved caucuses for their contributions, loyalty and sacrifices to the development of the PDP in Kwara State.
“We sincerely appreciate all members of the outgoing caucuses for their dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and contributions to the growth and development of the PDP in Kwara State,” the statement said.
The PDP urged members to remain calm, united and committed, saying arrangements were already underway for the recruitment, constitution and inauguration of new caucuses across the state.
