A group of youths in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has staged a street demonstration urging residents not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

A 45-second video circulating on X showed the youths chanting against President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which they accused of worsening economic hardship through poor governance.

The protesters said the government had failed to address the country’s economic challenges and called on Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2027.

In the video, the youths could be heard chanting, “You get food for house? No, you get light for house? No. Hunger dey. Tinubu brought hunger through bad government.”

The demonstration comes amid growing political activity in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said there would be no opposition in Rivers State in 2027, claiming that eligible voters were united behind efforts to re-elect President Tinubu.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has formed a political coalition involving members of different parties who have backed candidates preferred by him.

The development highlights the emerging political divisions in Rivers State as political parties and groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
