President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola had sufficient political and campaign resources to secure re-election in the 2022 governorship election but failed to utilise them effectively.
Tinubu made the remark during an emergency reconciliation meeting with about 76 All Progressives Congress leaders from Osun State at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to a report released.
The meeting was convened as the APC seeks to resolve internal disagreements among its Osun members ahead of the next governorship election.
During the meeting, party stakeholders reportedly raised concerns over alleged marginalisation and the distribution of federal appointments linked to the state.
Some members accused Oyetola’s political camp of dominating federal appointments allocated to Osun, saying the development had left other groups within the party feeling excluded.
The reconciliation meeting is part of efforts by the APC leadership to address the grievances and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the forthcoming governorship contest.
