Colleagues and staff of the University of Ilorin Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) have commended the immediate past Director, Prof. Ibrahim Adisa Raufu, for what they described as an outstanding performance during his tenure.

The tributes were delivered on Thursday, July 30, 2026, when academics and staff of the University gathered at the VTH Boardroom to mark the end of Raufu’s tenure, which ran from November 2022 to July 2026.

A former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services) and former Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Suleiman Folorunso Ambali, described Raufu as a “superb administrator” who committed personal resources to the development of the hospital.

Ambali said Raufu was passionate, honest and responsible in the discharge of his duties, adding that his performance would make the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, proud.

The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and chairman of the event, Prof. S. A. Ameen, also praised Raufu’s leadership, describing him as a man known for honesty, integrity, transparency and commitment to duty.

Former deans of the faculty, Prof. S. O. Salami and Prof. M. A. Raji, commended Raufu for improving service delivery at the hospital and strengthening the relationship between the Faculty and the VTH.

Other staff members, including Dr AbdulRauf Obalowu and Head of Clinic Services, Dr Lawal, highlighted improvements recorded across the hospital during Raufu’s tenure. They credited him with promoting an inclusive administration and improving the quality of services provided to professionals and clients.

Responding, Raufu described his tenure as an opportunity to serve and learn. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and the university management for their support, as well as the hospital’s staff for their cooperation.

Raufu said his major achievements included improved service delivery, a balance of more than ₦25 million and drugs valued at over ₦7 million left in the hospital at the end of his tenure.

He urged staff and other stakeholders to support his successor, stressing the need for continued cooperation to ensure that the hospital records further progress.
