Flight operations of Air Peace have been disrupted nationwide after members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) reportedly shut the airline’s terminals in protest.

The disruption affected operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. was unable to take off.

Reports indicated that similar disruptions were recorded at other airports across the country, leaving passengers stranded and causing delays.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, confirmed the incident but said he would provide further details after assessing the situation at the airport.

“Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation,” Achimugu said.

Some affected passengers took to social media to express frustration over the disruption. One X user, identified as YoufoundAlex, said he was stranded at Lagos airport while travelling to Abuja for a scheduled appointment.

The Air Peace management had not issued an official statement on the protest as of the time of filing this report.

It was also not immediately clear whether the disruption had affected the operations of other airlines at the airports.
