Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Davido made the appeal in a post on X on Tuesday, expressing concern over rising political tension and the potential for violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process.

The singer urged the US government and the international community to closely monitor the election and encourage relevant authorities to protect voters and uphold the integrity of the poll.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” Davido said.

He called for measures to prevent violence and intimidation, stressing that residents should be allowed to participate in the election without fear.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, with candidates from various political parties competing for the governorship of the state.
