Emir of Ilorin Mourns Father of Ex-UITH Chief Medical Director

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed condolences to Professor Sulyman Kuranga, former Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, over the death of his father, Alhaji Saadudeen Adebayo Kuranga.

Alhaji Saadudeen died in the early hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Emir’s spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, Sulu-Gambari described the deceased as a pious and respected elder who made significant contributions to his community and humanity.

The Emir said the late Kuranga was a community-minded elder whose life and values were worthy of emulation.

“On behalf of the Ilorin Emirate Council and the entire people of Ilorin Emirate, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Professor Sulyman Kuranga, the Kuranga family of Adabata Area and all their relations,” the Emir said.

Sulu-Gambari prayed that Allah forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.

He also prayed for strength and comfort for the Kuranga family as they mourn the loss.
