The Kwara State Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olori-Odo Adio Odunjo Obbo-Ile, has called for stronger security measures, greater transparency and improved opportunities for young people in the state.

Speaking at a press conference at the PDP State Secretariat in Ilorin on Wednesday to commemorate International Youth Day 2026, Obbo-Ile said the party’s youth wing would continue to demand accountability and measurable results from government.

He expressed concern over recent security challenges, particularly the attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area and the abduction of worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, Eruku.

While commending security agencies for the rescue of abducted residents and the arrest of suspects linked to the Eruku attack, he urged authorities to focus more on prevention through intelligence gathering, early-warning systems, surveillance and stronger community engagement.

Obbo-Ile also raised concerns about the temporary closure of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, over security threats, urging the government to provide a clear plan for the safe reopening of affected institutions.

On governance, he called for greater transparency in public procurement and urged the government to make information on contracts, contractors, project costs and implementation timelines accessible to citizens.

He also appealed for continued dialogue between the government and teachers over allowances and other welfare concerns, while urging transparency over reported disputes concerning May and June 2026 salary payments.

The PDP youth leader unveiled a seven-point agenda focusing on security, education, employment, transparency, rural development, youth participation and accountability.

He said young people should play a meaningful role in policymaking and development rather than being used mainly for political mobilisation.

“Kwara youth will not be satisfied with slogans. We will demand policies, programmes, performance and results,” he said.

Obbo-Ile called for closer cooperation among government, communities, traditional institutions, civil society and security agencies to prevent future tragedies.
