It is with total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the Ilorin Emirate Council announces the passing of Alhaja Alimat Sobaloju Zulu-Gambari, one of the widows of the 9th Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Zulqarnain Gambari Mohammed.

Alhaja Sobaloju Sulu-Gambari passed away in the early hours of today, Thursday, 13th August 2026. The announcement was made by the Royal Family.

In a statement, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, described the deceased as a devout Muslim, a woman of virtue, humility and unwavering dedication to Islam and humanity.

“She was a mother to all. Throughout her life, Alhaja Alimat embodied the values of modesty, charity and service that the Royal dynasty is known for.

The Emir prayed that Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds, grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give the Sulu-Gambari Royal Family, children and all her loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Ameen.

The Emirate Council calls on all sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate to join the Royal Family in prayers for the repose of her soul.
