Ten indigenes of Edo State who received the 2025 President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award have pledged to replicate the innovations that earned them national recognition in the state.

The awardees are Divine Omoruyi, Joy Ehinome, Odu Donald, Osaretin Michael, Osas Unuane, Dr Samuel Elaiho, Etinosa Ajayi, Charles Hope, Adesuwa Asubaja and Mary Aimuam.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Omoruyi said they were ready to apply their NYSC experience to development initiatives in Edo State if given the opportunity.

“We are prepared to replicate our innovation in Edo. We are only waiting for the opportunity to leverage our NYSC experiences in the state,” he said, adding that the initiatives could contribute to the state’s development.

President Bola Tinubu presented the 2025 President’s NYSC Honours Award to 210 former corps members who served between 2020 and 2023. The award ceremony was held on July 29, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Recipients were selected from their respective states of service for outstanding contributions during their NYSC assignments.

Omoruyi, an Economics and Statistics graduate of the University of Benin, was recognised for using statistical analysis and digital technology to improve NYSC administrative processes during his service in Taraba State.

Elaiho, an optometrist and also a University of Benin graduate, was honoured for his humanitarian medical outreach in Abia State, where he helped improve the lives of hundreds of residents. His performance earned him the Abia State Best Corps Member Award in 2022 before his national recognition.

The other eight Edo indigenes were similarly recognised for outstanding service in their states of deployment. Collectively, the awardees were honoured for contributions spanning public service, innovation, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and community development.
