Adegoke, Alagbe Clash Over ADC Oyo Governorship Ticket

Mr Taofeek Adegoke has declared himself the authentic governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Oyo State for the 2027 general elections.

Adegoke made the declaration while reacting to claims by another aspirant, Gbemileke Alagbe, who reportedly said he was the ADC’s governorship candidate for the election.

Adegoke, who is the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, dismissed Alagbe’s claim as “wishful thinking,” arguing that a party’s candidate is determined by the outcome of its primary election and not by public declarations.

He said he emerged as the party’s candidate after securing 16,051 votes at the primary election.

According to Adegoke, Bisi Ilaka came second with 11,415 votes, while Alagbe polled 241 votes. Azeez Adeduntan and Niyi Aborisade scored 155 and 67 votes, respectively.

He maintained that the figures from the primary clearly established him as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

Adegoke’s position comes amid an emerging dispute over the ADC governorship ticket in the state, with the competing claims likely to generate further political debate ahead of the election.
