Obi Visits Benue Attack Victims, Urges Government Action

Nigeria Democratic Congress 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on the Federal Government to strengthen efforts to protect lives and property following recent attacks in Benue State.

Obi made the appeal after visiting the Otukpo-Nobi and Efeyi-Ugboju communities in Otukpo Local Government Area, where a series of attacks reportedly left several residents dead, injured, or missing.

In a statement shared on his X account on Friday, Obi said his visit was aimed at sympathising with affected residents and assessing the impact of the attacks on the communities.

According to him, more than 10 people in Otukpo-Nobi were either killed or declared missing, while several others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The former Anambra State governor expressed concern over the recurring security challenges in parts of Benue State and urged the Federal Government to take decisive steps to prevent further attacks.

Benue has witnessed repeated incidents of violence in recent years, with communities across the state frequently affected by deadly attacks that have resulted in the loss of lives and the displacement of residents.
