UNILORIN, Interswitch Sign MoU on Digital Payment System

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and Interswitch Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate the Interswitch Payment Gateway into the university’s digital infrastructure and designated platforms.

The partnership, signed on August 31, 2026, is expected to strengthen the university’s electronic payment system by providing students and other users with a secure, web-based and mobile-compatible platform for making payments. Interswitch will provide the technical resources required for the integration and implement the project according to agreed timelines.

Speaking at the signing, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed optimism that the partnership would improve the university’s payment processes. He stressed the need for a more responsive and transparent system that would provide timely feedback and enable officials to identify and resolve payment-related issues more efficiently.

The Regional Head of Interswitch, Eloho Okiomah, said the company was pleased to partner with the university, noting that both organisations had maintained a longstanding relationship. He assured the institution of Interswitch’s commitment to providing a more efficient payment experience.

The Director of Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT), Prof. Sidikat Aderinoye-Abdulwahab, described the agreement as an opportunity for a mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions. She disclosed that the MoU would run for an initial period of 24 months.
