The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload and use the modified digital logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), according to the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson.

Dickson, a former Bayelsa State governor, disclosed this in a statement posted on his X account, saying the judgment was delivered by Justice J. O. Abdulmalik.

He said the party submitted the modified logo to INEC after its first National Executive Council meeting, after which the commission uploaded it. However, INEC later removed the logo and reverted to the version used when the association was initially registered.

According to Dickson, the party waited for INEC to resolve the matter before seeking judicial intervention. He said the court subsequently directed the commission to “forthwith upload and utilise” the modified digital logo.

Dickson commended the judiciary for the judgment, saying it upheld the party’s position and reinforced the need for due process.

He urged NDC candidates and members to immediately adopt the constitutionally approved logo on campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity materials.

Acknowledging that some members may have already produced materials bearing the earlier logo, Dickson urged them to replace them with the modified version. He said both logos feature a two-finger victory sign, but maintained that the modified version is the one approved in the party’s constitution.

The former governor also called on party members not to panic over the dispute, assuring them that the NDC had experienced leaders capable of managing the situation.

“We are democratic fighters. We do not run away from battles,” Dickson said, describing the dispute as part of what he called “administrative machinations” facing the party.

He said the NDC would issue further guidance on the use of the logo and embark on publicity to educate its candidates, members and voters ahead of the elections.
