Emir of Ilorin Celebrates Etsu Nupe at 74

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has congratulated the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on his 74th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued on Friday through his spokesman, Dr. AbdulAzeez Arowona, the Emir described the 13th Etsu Nupe and former Nigerian Army General as a distinguished monarch whose 24-year reign has been marked by notable achievements.

Sulu-Gambari said the Etsu Nupe had distinguished himself as a custodian of culture, a pillar of peace and an advocate of unity among the Nupe people and Nigerians.

He said, “Your 24-year reign on the exalted throne has been marked by wisdom, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of your people and the nation.”

The Emir also commended the monarch for his role in promoting religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and the strengthening of traditional institutions across the country.

He noted that the people of the Ilorin Emirate and members of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs joined him in celebrating the monarch’s milestone birthday.

Sulu-Gambari prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the Etsu Nupe more years in good health, strength and sound mind to continue providing purposeful leadership to the Nupe people and humanity.

He also appreciated the government and people of Niger State, as well as the Federal Government, for their support for the monarch’s efforts to promote peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among traditional rulers in Nigeria.
