The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahaya, has resigned from office.

Yahaya submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, according to reports.

His resignation follows mounting pressure from the Kano State Government over concerns about his performance as head of the anti-corruption agency.

Yahaya was appointed chairman of the commission in August 2025 after the tenure of his predecessor, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, expired.

His appointment was confirmed by the Kano State House of Assembly for a five-year term.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had recently criticised Yahaya publicly, accusing him of failing to meet expectations in leading the commission.

The commission’s Legal Secretary, Hafsat Kutama, is expected to assume the position of acting chairman from Wednesday.
