The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has lifted its restriction on SIM swapping and email changes, providing a secure pathway for candidates who have lost access to their registered contact details.

The new policy took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026. It applies strictly to candidates who can no longer access their registered phone numbers or recover their email accounts.

In a statement issued by Director of Communications Fabian Benjamin, JAMB explained that the decision followed the implementation of robust identity and biometric verification measures designed to prevent fraud, impersonation, and unauthorized profile modifications.

“Candidates seeking the service must provide their new GSM number and/or email address and a duly executed court affidavit, scanned and ready for upload,” the statement read.

To utilize the service, candidates must log into their e-facility profile, pay the required fee, and visit a designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre or professional test centre for biometric verification. The board noted that applicants can request updates to their phone numbers, email addresses, or both.

However, JAMB emphasized that the modification facility can only be used once per candidate. The board advised applicants to use the service exclusively for genuine cases and warned them to avoid unauthorized third-party agents, utilizing only official state offices and accredited CBT centres.
