The Association of Fish Farmers in Kwara State (AFFAK) has hosted its second Demonstration Day under the FISH4ACP Catfish Cluster Upgrading Programme.

The practical training session offers participating fish farmers a platform to demonstrate how they are applying Best Management Practices (BMPs) acquired through the initiative’s ongoing capacity-building framework.

While initial demonstrations centered on foundational business planning, record keeping, and pond preparation, this second phase advances directly into active production cycles. Selected lead farmers provided hands-on walkthroughs covering critical stages of aquaculture management.

Demonstrations focused on three core operational areas, Proper stocking methodologies and how population density directly impacts fish growth rates, survival, and overall water quality.

 Effective techniques for separating fish by size to minimize competition and encourage uniform growth across populations.

 Practical methods for maintaining optimal pond environments to safeguard fish health and maximize yield.

Beyond technical demonstrations, the programme provided a collaborative space for producers to troubleshoot common production challenges, share peer-to-peer experiences, and refine modern farming strategies designed to improve overall sector productivity.
