The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that one of its aircraft crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State in the early hours of Monday.
NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, said the aircraft was conducting a “routine mission” when the incident occurred.
In a statement made available to TheCable, Ejodame said a rescue operation was underway at the crash site.
Earlier reports indicated that several people aboard the aircraft were feared dead. However, the Air Force has yet to release an official figure for the number of casualties.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as rescue efforts continue and investigations into the cause of the crash get underway.
