Poland U-17 women’s head coach Paulina Kawalec is targeting a winning start when his side faces Nigeria’s Flamingos in their opening match at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Saturday.

The Group B encounter will take place at Pitch 4 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco, with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Nigerian time.

Kawalec stressed the importance of securing a positive result against Akeem Busari’s side, noting that the outcome could shape the teams’ prospects in the competition.

“Opening games at big tournaments are always of huge importance. In our group, the game against Nigeria could be particularly important and have a major influence on how the rest of the tournament unfolds,” he told FIFA.

Poland will also face defending champions DPR Korea and Puerto Rico in Group B as they seek to progress to the knockout stages.
