The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains its candidate for Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, despite a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that reportedly replaced him with former governor Rochas Okorocha.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, described reports of Uzodimma’s removal as unverified and accused opposition figures of circulating claims that he had been replaced.

The APC insisted that Uzodimma won the party’s senatorial primary with the overwhelming support of its members.

“The party wishes to state without any confusion that His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the candidate of our Party for Imo West Senatorial District,” the statement said.

The party added that its legal department would review the outcome of the court proceedings and take appropriate action.

It urged its members and supporters to remain focused and continue working towards the party’s success across constituencies in the state.
