Nollywood actor Uche Odoputa has announced that his family will hold an empty-casket funeral for his late father, Mr Kenneth Chukwumezie Odoputa, as they have no remains to bury.

The actor made the disclosure in an emotional social media post, saying the family would honour his father in a few weeks despite the absence of his body.

Odoputa said the ceremony would provide an opportunity to celebrate his father’s life, dignity and the love they shared.

“We have no body to lay to rest, but we have his life to remember, his dignity to honour and our love to express,” he wrote.

Describing his father as “Honestman”, the actor pledged that the family would continue to cherish and honour his memory.

He also encouraged people dealing with grief to speak with someone they trust and seek emotional support.

“Dad, we love you. We remember you. We will always honour you,” he added.
