The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and its Correspondents’ Chapel have restored full working ties following the inauguration of the Chapel’s newly elected executive committee.

The swearing-in, held on Wednesday in Ilorin, was conducted by the Kwara NUJ Chairman, Abdullateef Ahmed. The new executive is led by Abiola Azeez as Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel.

Ahmed described the event as the start of a new era of mutual understanding and collective progress. He urged the new leadership to carry out their duties with courage, integrity and commitment to journalistic ideals, while stressing the need for unity across all chapels.

In his acceptance speech, Abiola Azeez thanked the state council for the inauguration, noting that it marks a fresh chapter in the relationship between the Chapel and the Kwara NUJ Council.

He reaffirmed the Chapel’s commitment to work harmoniously with the council to advance journalists’ welfare and promote professionalism.

As part of the renewed relationship, the Correspondents’ Chapel announced the immediate lifting of all internal restrictions on members’ participation in NUJ activities, signaling full re-engagement with the state council.

Stakeholders say the development is expected to strengthen collaboration among journalists in Kwara and reinforce the shared commitment to unity, professionalism, and the growth of the journalism profession in the state.
