Zambia captain Barbra Banda remains the leading scorer at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) despite her team’s elimination from the tournament.
The 26-year-old increased her tally to five goals after scoring in Zambia’s 2-1 victory over Malawi on Wednesday, finishing two goals clear of her closest challengers.
Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, Ivory Coast’s Inès Konan and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah are tied on three goals each, while Nigeria’s Uchenna Kanu, Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala have scored two goals apiece.
Despite Banda’s impressive performances, Zambia failed to secure a place in the quarter-finals after finishing third in Group C behind Nigeria and Malawi.
