National Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response of the City Boy Movement, Bashir Ahmad, has denied claims that he secured only 16 votes during the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for the House of Representatives in 2022.

The controversy resurfaced on Thursday after Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, mocked the APC chieftain in a viral post, claiming he received 16 votes in the primary.

Responding on his official X account on Friday, Ahmad rejected the claim, insisting that no credible primary election was conducted.

Ahmad said the process was allegedly manipulated and claimed there was evidence, including videos and other materials, to support his position.

“I feel it is important to say this unequivocally that it is simply not true that I got 16 votes,” Ahmad said.

“The reality is that there was no credible primary election in the first place. If there had been, I am very confident I would have been the winner.”

He urged Davido, his supporters and others circulating the claim to stop presenting the alleged result as an authentic reflection of the 2022 primary.

Ahmad added that the evidence he referenced would be made public at the appropriate time, saying the full details of what happened during the primary would eventually emerge.

“The full story will be told at the appropriate time,” he said.
