A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, leaving residents of the community shocked.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing, including what may have led to the incident, remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. However, it was gathered that Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.

A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday, describing the development as shocking to residents.

Amaraizu said the couple got married in December 2025 and had been married for about eight months before the incident.

The Abia State Police Command had yet to officially comment on the latest incident as of press time.

The case comes months after a similar incident in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. In February 2026, the police confirmed the arrest of a woman accused of stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death following an allegation of infidelity.

The state Commissioner of Police at the time, Danladi Isa, said the suspect had been arrested and was being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department over a murder case.
