APC, PDP, SDP, NDC Complete 2027 Candidate Upload

The parties confirmed the development on Monday, as the commission’s deadline for candidate submission approached.

The ruling APC said it completed the process ahead of the original deadline. Its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the party had successfully uploaded candidates for all elective positions, from state Houses of Assembly seats to the presidency.

INEC had initially set August 8, 2026, as the deadline but extended it by three days to August 11 following appeals from political parties that had yet to complete the exercise.

Yilwatda, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, described the early completion as a sign of the party’s organisational preparedness for the 2027 elections.

He said the process involved the nomination, documentation, verification and electronic submission of thousands of candidates across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“We planned, coordinated our structures and ensured that our candidates were successfully uploaded before the expiration of the original deadline,” Yilwatda said.

The Wike-led faction of the PDP also confirmed that it had completed its submissions. Its spokesman, Jungudo Haruna, said there were no technical difficulties during the process.

“We have uploaded our candidates’ names. There were no glitches,” Haruna said.

The NDC spokesman, Osa Director, and SDP spokesman, Rufus Aiyenigba, separately confirmed that their parties had also completed the electronic submission of their candidates through the INEC portal.
