Tears as Nollywood Veteran Ogogo Buried in Ogun

Emotions ran high in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday as family, friends and colleagues gathered to bid farewell to veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who was buried according to Islamic rites.

The 66-year-old actor was laid to rest amid an outpouring of grief from sympathisers who attended the funeral in his hometown.

A video from the burial procession showed mourners carrying Ogogo’s remains to his final resting place as prayers were offered in line with Islamic tradition.

One of the most emotional moments came when veteran actor Yinka Quadri, a close friend and longtime colleague of the deceased, broke down in tears during the burial. Other mourners were seen consoling him as the ceremony continued.

Several Nollywood stars travelled to Ilaro to pay their last respects, including Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba.

Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi also paid tribute to Ogogo before the burial, praying for Allah to grant the late actor eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Ogogo was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the Yoruba film industry, with a career that spanned decades and earned him admiration across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

His burial drew colleagues, family members and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate his life and legacy.
