Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has defended her decision to accept money when supporting political figures, saying such engagements are part of her efforts to make a living.

The actress made the comments on Sunday, while discussing Nigerian politics and whether she would accept payment to endorse or support a politician.

Oshodi-Oke described Nigerian politics as “dirty” and said she did not want to get involved in telling people who to vote for.

She, however, urged the public not to criticise her if she is seen campaigning alongside politicians.

“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.

The actress also discussed her relationship with fellow Nollywood star Sotayo Gaga, revealing that they had not spoken for about five or six years following a disagreement.

She said the two were not enemies and noted that Gaga sent her N150,000 after learning that she was ill. Despite the gesture, she said they have not resumed communication and usually pass each other without greeting when they meet at social events.

Oshodi-Oke also spoke about her health challenges, marriage, motherhood and career in Nollywood. She said her experience with illness changed her outlook on life and relationships.

She further discussed joining the Celestial Church of Christ during her health struggles, while stressing that she respected people of other faiths.
