Ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central have reaffirmed their support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, insisting that Senator Saliu Mustapha’s defection will not weaken the party in the senatorial district.

The 51 ward chairmen made the declaration during a meeting in Ilorin, where they pledged their continued loyalty to the governor and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Chairman of Gambari Ward Two and Chairman of the 193 APC ward chairmen in Kwara State, Baba Gobir Abdullahi, described Mustapha’s defection as a personal political decision.

He maintained that the APC remains united and firmly rooted across Kwara Central despite the senator’s exit from the party.

Also speaking, the Councillor representing Gambari Ward One in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Sulyman Salah, praised the AbdulRazaq administration for its achievements in road construction, healthcare, education and youth empowerment.

The party stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRazaq and pledged to mobilise support for the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
