NNPP Faction Rejects Kwankwaso’s Alliance Claims

Factional National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Agbo Major, says the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has no authority to negotiate alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. He dismissed yesterday’s meeting of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Abuja, where Kwankwaso declared the NNPP open to coalitions, as “null and void.”

Major maintained that Kwankwaso and his group were expelled after the 2023 polls for alleged anti-party activities and that court rulings have affirmed the Major-led leadership. He accused the former candidate of using the party’s name to pursue personal interests, citing Kwankwaso’s recent criticism of the Federal Government as an example.

The factional chairman warned that any alliance entered into with Kwankwaso in the NNPP’s name would be “at the risk” of those involved. He added that the party is awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s response to its request to formally update its leadership records.
