The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) on Thursday conducted its weekly sanitation at Post Office and Ipata markets in Ilorin, clearing refuse, desilting drains, and inspecting facilities.
General Manager Hon. Jide Aina said clean markets are vital to preventing food contamination and disease, urging traders to take responsibility for their surroundings while assuring that KWEPA will intensify sanitation and enforcement.
Ten shops were sealed during the exercise for poor hygiene and improper waste disposal. Head of Waste Management, Mrs. Fasilat Tajudeen, said the enforcement was corrective and urged full compliance with environmental standards.
