The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, will confer a traditional title on Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at a ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The turbaning ceremony will take place at the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin at 10am, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Emir’s spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona.

The event is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers from within and outside Kwara State, business leaders, religious figures and other dignitaries.

The Emir said the title was conferred on AbdulRazaq, who is also chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, in recognition of his leadership, commitment to peace and unity, and developmental achievements across the state.

The ceremony will also include special prayers for continued peace, progress and prosperity in the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria.

“Members of the public, government functionaries, traditional title holders, religious leaders, and well-wishers are cordially invited to witness the historic ceremony,” Arowona quoted the Emir as saying.

The Emir of Ilorin also chairs the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers.
