Lagos State lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has apologised again to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his actions during the last All Progressives Congress primary election.

Elliot made the apology during a meeting with Gbajabiamila and other APC leaders in Lagos, where he knelt and prostrated before the former Speaker of the House of Representatives in a bid to reconcile with the party leadership.

In a video shared by Lagos Junction on X on Sunday, Elliot expressed regret over his conduct, saying he may have been misguided during the primary.

“I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry,” Elliot said. “And in our culture, we prostrate. Don’t be angry, Daddy.”

Gbajabiamila subsequently asked the lawmaker to get up.

Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, also pledged to renew his loyalty to the APC leadership and work toward reconciliation.

The latest apology follows an earlier expression of regret by Elliot during an appearance on TVC’s Your View. At the time, he said he may have offended Gbajabiamila, whom he described as a political mentor, during his political engagements.

Elliot said any disagreement between them was unintentional and reaffirmed his commitment to party unity and the development of his constituency.

The reconciliation comes against the backdrop of tensions over the leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Gbajabiamila had previously said he faced difficulties at the Presidency over allegations concerning Elliot’s involvement in moves linked to the speakership dispute.

Gbajabiamila said President Bola Tinubu had confronted him over intelligence reports alleging Elliot’s involvement in the political manoeuvring surrounding the Assembly leadership tussle. Elliot denied the allegations at the time.

The crisis, which stemmed from disagreements within the APC, was eventually resolved after interventions by senior party leaders.
