Wayne Rooney Dismisses Weight-Loss Injection Rumors Ahead of Disney+ Series Launch

Former England captain Wayne Rooney has addressed rumors regarding his recent physical transformation, firmly denying that he used weight-loss injections.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 40-year-old attributed his slimmer appearance entirely to hard work and increased exercise.

“It’s a shame, because I’m working really hard to lose weight,” Rooney said, laughing off the speculation surrounding his fitness routine.

Beyond his physique, Rooney opened up about his recent nose surgery, clarifying that the procedure was medically necessary rather than purely cosmetic.

The former Manchester United striker explained that he broke his nose twice during his professional career first in a 2015 FA Cup match against Preston North End, and later while playing in Major League Soccer for DC United. Over time, the damage left him unable to breathe properly through one side.

“I couldn’t blow one side out of my nose and so I had it fixed,” Rooney said.

His wife, Coleen, admitted she strongly encouraged him to go through with the operation, adding another practical incentive: his snoring.

“I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring,” she said.

Rooney delayed the procedure for years before finally undergoing the operation following the 2026 World Cup. He later updated fans on his Stick to United podcast, explaining that he was recovering with the aid of plastic tubes placed in his nose.

The remarks arrive as Wayne and Coleen promote their new 10-part Disney+ documentary series, The Real Rooneys, which premiered on Thursday.

The project offers an intimate look into the family’s lives alongside their four sons Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass capturing a transitional period as Rooney shifts focus away from football management and toward media commitments.
