Nigerian Pedicurist Targets Guinness World Record With 48-Hour Marathon

Nigerian pedicurist Olusanya Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual.

The 48-hour challenge is scheduled to hold from October 29 to 31, 2026, at Njay Beauty Spa and Salon in Akure, Ondo State.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the initiative aims to showcase the potential of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry while promoting foot care and hygiene.

Samuel, a graduate of Anatomy from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, said his academic background had strengthened his understanding of human physiology and foot care.

He also said his entrepreneurial journey began in his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques.

After more than five years of practice, the venture has grown from a side business into Sam Pedicures, a brand focused on foot hygiene and professional foot care.

Samuel said his experience had shown that young Nigerians could create employment opportunities by developing practical skills rather than waiting for paid jobs.

Organisers said the event would feature live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food, drinks and free pedicure sessions for attendees.

The record attempt is also intended to inspire young Nigerians to combine formal education with entrepreneurship and promote the country’s personal care industry internationally.
