UNILORIN Staff Association Pays Tribute To Late Prof. Badmas Yusuf

The leadership and members of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA) visited the family of their former Chairman, the late Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf, to express condolences and honor his legacy. The visit took place on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Speaking during the visit, IESA Chairman Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam described Prof. Yusuf as an exemplary scholar and a dedicated servant to both the Association and the University of Ilorin community.

“He was a unifying figure who devoted his knowledge, time, and energy to strengthening the Association and the University,” Prof. Adam said, emphasizing the late academic’s mentorship and leadership.

Prof. Adam noted that Prof. Yusuf’s contributions extended beyond IESA, positively impacting academic development and community service, earning him respect across the Emirate and broader scholarly circles.

Highlighting his commitment to dialogue and cooperation, the IESA Chairman said Prof. Yusuf played a pivotal role in stabilizing and repositioning the Association through sound administrative guidance and a focus on members’ welfare.

He encouraged the family to take solace in the positive legacy Prof. Yusuf left behind, praying for Allah’s forgiveness, Aljanah Firdaus for the deceased, and strength for the bereaved.

Responding, Mrs. Sifau Yusuf, one of Prof. Yusuf’s widows, thanked IESA and the University community for their support and pledged to uphold his enduring legacies.

The condolence delegation included the University Registrar, Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo; Director of the Physical Planning Unit, Mr. Toyin AbdulRahman Jimoh; Deputy Editor of UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr. Abubakar Imam; and Ag. Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Taofeeq Olanrewaju Lawal, among others.

The visit reinforced the respect and admiration held for Prof. Yusuf, celebrating his lifelong dedication to scholarship, mentorship, and service to the University of Ilorin community.
