Osun NYSC Coordinator Warns Against Service Evasion

The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, has urged corps members to uphold discipline and avoid service evasion during their service year.

Kubiangha issued the warning on Thursday during a familiarization visit combined with the General Community Development Service meeting in Olorunda Local Government Area, held at the Osogbo Township Stadium, Omo West.

Addressing the corps members, he stressed that national development relies heavily on individual responsibility and active participation in the NYSC programme.

He cautioned that evasion and indiscipline undermine the objectives of the scheme, urging corps members to contribute meaningfully to national development. “The clarion call is for you to put in your quota to national development and not to be evasive during service,” Kubiangha said.

The coordinator highlighted the importance of professionalism, including proper dressing in the approved NYSC uniform and respect for constituted authorities.

He warned against unauthorized travel, lending of NYSC uniforms to others, and failure to participate in mandatory monthly clearance exercises, noting that such infractions could lead to disciplinary measures, including possible extension of the service year.

Kubiangha also encouraged corps members to make measurable impacts at their Places of Primary Assignment, in line with the core objectives of the NYSC.

Speaking at the event, the Osogbo Zonal Inspector, Dolapo Stephen, urged corps members to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the scheme.

He reminded participants that the NYSC operates within a clearly defined legal and administrative framework, reinforcing the need for compliance at all times.
