Peter Obi Supporters Launch ‘Village Boys Movement’

Supporters of former Peter Obi have launched a grassroots organization aimed at mobilizing support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The group, named the ‘Village Boys Movement,’ was introduced as a counterpart to the ‘City Boys Movement’ organized by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, in support of the President’s re-election.

Maazị Tochukwu Ezeoke, convener of the movement, addressed supporters in Abuja on Thursday, referring to himself as a ‘Village Headmaster.’

Ezeoke described the initiative as representing “a Nigeria that works before it earns and earns before it spends,” emphasizing a focus on ethics and accountability.

He clarified that the movement is not meant to oppose urban areas, framing it instead as a “moral contrast” to existing structures.

“The issue is not geography but the source of wealth, the ethics of leadership, and the structure of accountability,” Ezeoke said.

The movement seeks to engage rural communities and mobilize voters at the grassroots level in preparation for the 2027 polls.

Supporters view it as a platform to advocate for responsible governance and equitable development across Nigeria.

Observers note that the initiative reflects increasing political activity among youth and local leaders aligned with Obi’s presidential ambitions.

The launch underscores the growing role of organized grassroots campaigns in shaping the upcoming election landscape.
