
The rerun election for the State House of Assembly in Ungogo Local Government Area recorded low voter turnout across several polling units as of late morning.
At Panisau polling unit, five electoral officers arrived around 8:00 a.m., but by 10:30 a.m. only six voters had cast their ballots.
In Ward 003, Kera Panisau, which has 804 registered voters, only 19 people had voted by 11:00 a.m., according to Presiding Officer Sani Kabiru.
At Polling Unit 019 in Ezier, four voters participated out of 31 registered voters, the presiding officer reported.
Similarly, in Ungogo Kudu with 54 registered voters, only three ballots had been cast by mid-morning, as stated by Presiding Officer Aisha Sani Dalha.
In Ungogo Kudu 1, which has 1,378 registered voters, 77 people had voted at the time of reporting, according to Presiding Officer Basma Ahmad Salihu.
Election officials noted that the process was generally peaceful despite the low participation figures observed across the polling units.
Observers also reported that ballot papers displayed the participating parties, with no visible representation of the PDP, NNPP, or ADC on the ballots seen at the polling units.
Authorities are expected to release official turnout figures after the conclusion of voting.
The rerun election is being conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
