
St. Ives Communications Ltd, owners of Women Radio WFM 91.7, has appointed its Co-Founder, Toun Okewale Sonaiya, as Chair of the Board.
In a statement, the Board of Directors congratulated Sonaiya on her appointment, citing her leadership and longstanding contributions to the organisation since the station’s launch in 2015. It noted that she played a key role in positioning Women Radio as a prominent platform focused on women’s issues and community development in Nigeria.
As Board Chair, Sonaiya will provide strategic oversight and governance leadership aimed at strengthening the station’s long-term sustainability and expansion. The Board said her experience in the media and development sectors would support the organisation’s growth and institutional direction.
She will also continue to lead the Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation (VOWEF), with the Board highlighting plans to deepen collaboration between the foundation and Women Radio in advancing advocacy and social impact initiatives.
The company also announced the appointment of Aramide Ayodeji Alakija-Ajeh as Chief Executive Officer of Women Radio, effective immediately. According to the Board, she brings experience in strategic leadership and organisational development.
The Board expressed confidence that the new CEO will ensure continuity and strengthen the station’s operational systems as it expands its reach nationally and internationally.
It said the appointments underscore the organisation’s commitment to governance, leadership continuity, and the delivery of media content aimed at informing and empowering audiences.
