2027: Olajide Bids to Replace Makinde

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North and South West, Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

Olajide said he is prepared to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde and described himself as the best candidate to consolidate the current administration’s achievements. He made the declaration in a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha.

The lawmaker confirmed that he will run on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His announcement follows a recent call by Governor Makinde urging interested aspirants to publicly declare their ambitions.

Olajide said his decision came after consultations with political associates, party leaders, stakeholders and constituents. He argued that his experience in public service and grassroots engagement positions him to advance the state’s development.

He pledged to build on what he described as a solid foundation laid by the current administration, focusing on economic growth, youth empowerment and inclusive governance.

“Our focus will be on building a sustainable economy, creating opportunities for our youth, empowering entrepreneurs and ensuring that development reaches every community in Oyo State,” he said.

Olajide added that his agenda would centre on consolidating existing achievements while expanding access to opportunities across the state. He also sought support from party members and residents as the political process unfolds.
