
The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has postponed all examinations scheduled for Monday and Tuesday following heightened security concerns in Jos, Plateau State, after a deadly attack in Anguwan Rukuba community, Jos North Local Government Area.
In a statement on Sunday, Emmanuel Madugu, Deputy Registrar of Information and Public Relations, said the decision was made to protect students and staff living in areas affected by the incident.
“The Vice-Chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, be postponed and rescheduled due to fatal attacks by unknown gunmen in Anguwan Rukuba,” the statement read.
The university urged students and staff to remain indoors and exercise caution, particularly during early morning hours, while the security situation remains tense.
Members of the university community were advised to report any signs of security breaches to the University Security Division.
Madugu emphasized that the decision prioritizes the safety of all members of the university, noting that Anguwan Rukuba is home to many staff and students.
The university management confirmed it is coordinating with relevant security agencies and closely monitoring developments in the area.
