Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, Secretary of the Kwankwasiyya movement and son of former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned his membership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a statement shared on Monday via his Facebook page, Mustapha said his decision followed careful consideration and marked a new phase in his political career.
“I want to inform the general public that as of today, I have officially resigned my membership from the NNPP,” he stated.
He also disclosed that he is in the process of joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the move as the beginning of a new political chapter.
According to him, the decision to align with the ADC was driven by his belief that the party offers a viable platform to promote good governance and development in Nigeria, particularly in Kano State.
“My decision to join the ADC is driven by my conviction that it is best positioned to bring the desired change and progress to our country,” he said, adding that the party’s vision aligns with his goals for economic growth and improved welfare.
Mustapha’s exit from the NNPP comes amid ongoing political realignments within Kano State and the broader northern political landscape ahead of future electoral contests.
