Ademola Adeleke has approved the implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government at Osun State University, marking a significant step toward improving staff welfare at the institution.
According to a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, the implementation has commenced with the payment of arrears dating back to January 2026.
The approval covers key components of the agreement, including the Consolidated Academic Allowance, the newly introduced tax-free Consolidated Tools Allowance, and Professorial Allowances.
The university management said the move is expected to boost staff morale, enhance institutional stability, and foster industrial harmony within the institution.
Reacting to the development, ASUU-UNIOSUN Chairman, Wende Olaosebikan, described the approval as timely and impactful, noting that it reflects the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
He also commended the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Wale Oladipo, as well as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, for their roles in facilitating the implementation.
Similarly, the ASUU Ibadan Zone welcomed the development, describing it as a victory for dialogue and a positive example of effective labour relations in Nigeria’s university system.
The move comes amid ongoing calls across the country for improved funding and better welfare conditions in the higher education sector.
