APC Stakeholders Purchase 2027 Governorship Forms for Rivers Governor Fubara

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms for Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The move was announced on Friday by a delegation led by a member of the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, who said the decision was taken collectively by party stakeholders across the state.

According to Abiante, the action reflects confidence in Fubara’s leadership and a desire for continuity in governance in Rivers State.

He described the purchase of the forms as a democratic tradition in which stakeholders support preferred candidates based on perceived performance and public interest.

Abiante said the gesture was not driven by personal interest but by what he called the “collective will” of Rivers people, adding that residents want continuity in leadership.

He pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects under the governor’s administration, including improved access to previously underserved communities and rehabilitation of key public facilities.

He also highlighted developments in riverine areas, saying better connectivity has improved economic opportunities and boosted prospects for the blue economy.

According to him, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has demonstrated responsive leadership, particularly in addressing community needs and delivering projects across the state.

Abiante further stated that the governor did not initiate or influence the purchase of the nomination forms, stressing that it was entirely a stakeholder-driven decision.

The development comes amid shifting political alignments in Rivers State following the fallout between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which previously triggered a major political crisis in the state.

Fubara’s political position has evolved in recent months as he continues to consolidate support within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, while stakeholders signal growing interest in his re-election bid.
