The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions will take place on May 11, where key decisions on admission processes for the 2026/2027 academic session will be finalised.
According to a statement by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the meeting will be held at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi, Abuja.
A major highlight of the gathering will be the determination of the minimum cut-off marks for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which guides admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, is expected to unveil key policy directions at the event.
The annual policy meeting serves as a platform for stakeholders across the education sector to decide on admission guidelines and minimum acceptable scores for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Participants will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers, alongside representatives from regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission, the National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education.
Other stakeholders expected at the meeting include the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, among others.
In addition to policy discussions, the event will feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), aimed at encouraging adherence to admission guidelines and improving transparency and standards in the tertiary education system.
The meeting is expected to set the tone for the upcoming admission cycle, with institutions required to strictly comply with the agreed benchmarks and policies.
