BREAKING…. Protesters Storm MTN Office Over High Tariffs

Activists and protesters on Wednesday staged a demonstration at the headquarters of MTN Nigeria in Abuja, protesting what they described as high service costs and poor value for money.

The protest was led by activist Omoyele Sowore, with demonstrators chanting slogans and accusing the telecommunications company of exploitative pricing practices.

At the company’s premises, protesters called for an immediate review of tariffs, insisting that Nigerians deserve more affordable and reliable services.

“We demand that MTN immediately stop all the exorbitant charges. We need quality service in the country,” one of the protesters said.

Another demonstrator alleged that customers were being charged for services not fully delivered, citing complaints of users paying for data bundles they could not access.

The protest comes amid growing public frustration over rising telecommunications costs in Nigeria, particularly as consumers grapple with broader economic pressures.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) announced plans to stage protests against South African-owned companies, including MultiChoice and MTN.

The student body said the planned action is in response to ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa, linking the protests to wider concerns about the treatment of Nigerians abroad and the operations of foreign-owned firms in the country.
