Agbonlahor Doubts Alexander-Arnold’s Chances Under Mourinho

Former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor has expressed concerns over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s prospects at Real Madrid amid reports linking Jose Mourinho with a return to the club.

Speaking alongside former Rangers striker Ally McCoist on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor suggested Alexander-Arnold could struggle for regular playing time if Mourinho takes charge at the Santiago Bernabéu.

He also pointed to reports linking Denzel Dumfries with a move from Inter Milan to Madrid, describing the Dutch defender as a better fit for Mourinho’s style of play.

“I’m worried for Trent, I really am,” Agbonlahor said. “Dumfries is more of a Jose Mourinho right-back — strong, aggressive, quick and physical.”

According to him, Alexander-Arnold’s attacking style may not align with the type of full-back Mourinho typically prefers in his teams.

Reports have linked Mourinho with another managerial spell at Real Madrid, while Dumfries is also said to be among the players being considered as part of the club’s rebuilding plans.

Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid last summer after leaving Liverpool as a free agent.
